It is worth it to eradicate candida. Just balancing your gut with healthy unprocessed foods with natural probiotics in them (such as kefir, kraut and kimchee will take care of a lot of it. Also, try incorporating sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, date/coconut sugars and stevia instead of white and other processed sugars. They are better choices because they contain naturally occurring amino acids, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Foods our bodies are able to process much easier.

Sugar is one of the most addictive and harmful foods to the body. Sugar impairs the immune system and the production of the human growth hormone for 18-24 hours. If you eat it every day, it never gets out of your body and it never stops hindering the immune system.

Sugar is just as addictive to the human brain as cocaine, setting off the same dopamine triggers and making the body crave more and more. Refined sugar has made its’ way into nearly all processed foods. You wouldn’t think it was in foods like hotdogs, lunch meats, breads, yogurts, dressings, and all sauces, but it is. Start to read labels, and you will see all the places it shows up. It is hidden in various ways, and has many other names like; Agave Syrup, Brown Rice Syrup, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Dextrose, Evaporated Cane Juice, Glucose, Lactose, Malt Syrup, Sucrose and many others. These forms of processed sugar causes extreme imbalances throughout the entire body and ultimately will hinder the immune system. 

The focus we will take here is on Candida. Candida feeds off sugar, therefore, this is a problem for all of us on one level of the continuum or other. In fact, Dr. David Perlmutter explains in his recent best seller ‘Grain Brain’, that over 80% of Americans suffer from some form of Candida overgrowth and is a growing epidemic in our country. 

We can compare it to being in science class, where many of us put yeast on a petri dish, fed it sugar and watched it grow. That is what is happening right now in your stomach. When you feed the candida, it starts to breed. Faster and faster it will create more, throwing out of balance the good to bad bacteria ratio. Making the bad much higher and leaving you susceptible, as it makes its way through the rest of your body. 

Serious medical problems that take away quality of life can be the result simply because sugar directly affects your digestive system organs and function. The digestive system fully functioning helps to move out toxins and combat illness and disease (70-80% of our immune system lives in the gut and digestive track)! The gut actually governs our health and overall quality of life. Therefore, if left untreated, Candida can actually affect every area of your life.
